Visual Storytelling: Designing a Good Short Film
Dr Pawas Bisht is a Lecturer in Media, Communications and Culture at the School of Humanities, Keele University, UK. He is the Programme Director for Keele’s MA Global Media & Culture and MA Global Media & Management programmes. His research focuses on media and cultural politics with a particular emphasis on the dynamics of social and cultural remembrance, social movements and environmental politics. His work has been published in journals including Media, Culture & Society and Contemporary South Asia.
Pawas is also an experienced documentary filmmaker. His films have been shown on Channel 4 (UK), CNBC and Doordarshan (India’s national public service broadcaster) and include work commissioned by the United Nations Development Programme and the Global Environment Facility. His most recent film 'Back to the Drawing Board' (2017) was a portrait of the British designers Pat Albeck and Peter Rice.
At Keele, Pawas's teaching spans both media theory and media practice; he teaches modules on media & leisure, media & globalisation and documentary filmmaking. Prior to his appointment at Keele, he held lecturing positions at Loughborough University (UK) and the AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia (New Delhi, India).
